Sue has had a bit of a tough time with mini, she wanted it restored as it was tatty and as with all mini's it needed plenty of TLC.
The problem was on initial inspection it seem like the classic rebuild - new front, inner and outer sills and doors etc. but our old friend Mr Rust Worm had eaten his way to the most hidden and secretive areas.
As we pulled the car apart it became apparent that we were not going to be able to put the bits back on this shell. With the go-ahead to reshell the car we completed the stripping of the vehicle and when we lifted the old shell up on our fork lift truck the old girl finally gave way and broke down the middle........ SO buyer beware when purchasing used mini's..!!!!!
With the donner shell aquired we went about cleaning and rebuilding, a whole new front was fitted including scuttle, rebuilt doors, new sills all round, boot repairs, new bonnet and boot.
Then the vehicle went for paint.
Sue decided to paint the car in classc tartan red with a black roof - a good choice Sue - one of my favourites, Jason our painter out did himself on this project, the vehicle was painted inside and out and the finish was remarkable, well done Jason.
The car was re-assembled from a bare ahell with as much care as possible, the vehicle had all new brightwork and carpets, arches and wheels. The finishing touch was the insertion of a 1275cc unit with the stage one system.
After a bit of tinkering and tuning as with all mini's the car was set up to run like a dream. |
